Welcome to  snapshot_hunter! We hope you will enjoy the contests.Please note that members are not given posting access. This is because all photo submissions are made via comments in a moderator's post. This will save your friends page from being flooded with community contest submissions. Anonymous posters cannot participate in the contest; their comments are disabled. It is recommended that when you join, you also add snapshot_hunter to your friends page. There are only 3 posts made a week, and you don't want to miss out on the fun!Once you are a member, please take a moment to read the rules. If you have any questions or need to contact a moderator, you can email the mods @ snapshot.hunter@gmail.com. Any comments made to our posts that are not related to the contest (suggestions, questions, and complaints, etc about the community in general) will be screened. |

1. Have fun! 2. The idea of the game is that after the subject is announced, members grab their cameras and go photo shooting for their intrepretation of the subject. This is a fun and creative challenge. You are only limited by your imagination! 3. Not everything is going to be black & white. There will be entries that border these rules. Please take note that the mods will have the final say in all questionable entries. If you are unsure as to whether your photo will be disqualified or not, please email us your picture's URL so that we may review it before you enter it in the contest. This will give you time to take a new picture to enter if your first choice is inappropriate. If you post something questionable, understand that we may screen your comment and disqualify your photo from that round. If time permits, you may submit a new photo for that contest. 4. This community has a zero drama policy. If you don't like someone's photo, keep it to yourself. If you make any negative comments that are meant to attack any community member rather than offer constructive criticism, you will be given a warning. If it happens a second time, you will be banned. If you feel that a photo is inappropriate, please email us with the link so that we may review it and take action if necessary. If we allow a photo that you don't agree with, you are just going to have to scroll past the entry. 5. Treat your mods with the same respect you give fellow community members. We are volunteering in our free time to run this community for YOU. If you have any problems whatsoever, emails us! These rules are here to make this community a better place. Swearing at us and stomping your foot will only get you banned. You get one warning, just like you do for attacking other community members. 6. Older photos will be permitted. 7. Photos are to be taken by the member posting it. 8. You cannot scan or take a picture of someone else's picture and claim that as your entry. This rule also applies to drawings/paintings. If the picture is included in the background of your picture, you must be able to convey the meaning of the weekly topic as if the picture wasn't there. For example, let's say the weekly topic is "travel." If you want to arrange postcards, your passport, travel books, a camera, luggage, etc, in an artistic way to portray "travel," this would be ok. In this example, if you were to take the postcards out of your picture, you can still get the meaning of "travel" across. However, if you were to only take a picture of a postcard, your picture would be disqualified. The picture/drawing/painting in your picture should not be the focal point, but rather a small piece of the total package. Scanned pictures (taken by the member) are allowed. 9. There is no restriction on the size of photos, however, we suggest that you try to keep the size down to 700x500 to allow for faster page loads. 10. Please keep it work-safe/family friendly. If you'd be embarrassed to have your boss, child, little sister, nephew, etc, catch you looking at it, it's probably not appropriate to post in this community. 11. One photo submission per member per contest. If you would like people to see alternative pictures that you were considering for the contest, please only post the link to it. Do not post extra pictures. 12. Single photos only. Collages are not allowed. 13. You can crop, rotate, resize or add a border to your photos. You can also add a watermark or date stamp, but try keeping it small so that it doesn’t detract from the beauty of the photo. 14. Touching up photos with imaging programs or in camera is allowed, as long as it doesn't take away from the integrity of the photo. Allowed: ● Curves ● Levels ● Saturation ● Standard filters such as: USM, Sharpen, and Despeckle ● Other effects that do the same as the allowed tools: For example, creating a duplicate layer and then using it to darken the whole image. Not allowed: ● Any of the allowed tools to such excess that it takes away from the integrity of the original photo. ● Special effect filters with extreme effects, such as: Sketch, Stylize, and Render ● Layer effects that only effect parts of the photo. For example: Making the subject of the photo colour, but the background black & white; blurring the background; and cutting out the background. 15. If you make a mistake in your post (html code, picture size, etc), or decide to use a different picture, delete your original submission and post a new one. You can repost up until the voting starts. 16. Once the voting thread has been posted, photo submissions will no longer be accepted into the current round's contest. 17. You cannot vote for your own photo. 18. You may enter the same photo for more than one round, provided it has never won a past snapshot_hunter round. 19. Voting is restricted to members only. Non-member votes will not count. If you only have this community added as a friend, you will need to join in order for your vote to count. (That means snapshot_hunter should appear under "Member of" at the bottom of your userinfo.) 20. Anyone rallying for votes in their journal will be disqualified from that round. If it happens again you will be banned from future contests. Let's keep this community honest and fun! 21. Once the new challenge has been posted, votes for the previous round will not count. The winner has already been announced at this point. 22. Most of all, have fun! |
